Studying Abroad
Studying abroad is a dream for many of us, but because it’s so expensive, it’s difficult to make it happen.
Studying Abroad, some colleges can charge international students up to $8,000 for just one semester (three months), and there are three semesters in each academic year. If you add summer one, summer two, and living expenses to the equation, four years of study abroad could total roughly $150,000. Only the rich, powerful, or well-connected could spend that kind of money on education. Nonetheless, you can study abroad without having a penny of savings or bankrupting your parents. There are two ways to do this.
First, you can be super smart. If you are a gifted student who can comprehend and process ideas better than the majority, almost any school in the world will want you. All you need to do is get a distinction in your high school certificate or first class in your undergraduate degree, and then take the SAT (for high school) or GRE exam (for university graduates). If you ace these tests, you are almost sure to get a scholarship abroad.
The second way to study internationally without paying tuition is to work extra hard. As Thomas Edison said, “Success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.” Even if you are not a natural genius, you can make yourself one through hard work. One of the good things about Western countries is that they celebrate achievement and recognize the importance of innovation and creativity. Internationally recognized universities are always on the lookout for high achievers in the hope of celebrating them. If you want to study abroad without depleting your savings, take another piece of Edison’s advice to heart: “The reason a lot of people do not recognize opportunity is because it usually goes around wearing overalls looking like hard work.”
